As you can see in the pictures, I decorate the schools hallway as if we were in the Amazon jungle, and students complete this decoration with backdrops and different animals we can find in the jungle. The three main animals I teach students in class are the frog, a springy snake, and a butterfly. However you can find more animals here to practice at home!

 

You can see in some of the pictures the Science curricular content written on the different animals. This is a great way to review what has been studied in different areas. When you make your animals don't forget to classify them!

 

I should mention that all the backdrops were created with reused carboard boxes found at school, and most of the animals were created with reused paper also from the school. This way I teach students the importance of reusing materials to help save the world's rainforests. This idea could be enlarged and students could even create an animate story using the animals to defend the prevention of rainforest destruction.

 

Other ideas for projects:

• ​Create a 3-D tourist brochuer about rainforests (using recycled paper of course!)

 

• Create a stopmotion animation which takes place in the Amazon jungle

 

• Create a 3-D jungle zoo
