Rotating cubes

These rotating cubes make a fun classroom toy both to create with students as well as to play with. This toy can be 3x3, 4x4 or as big as you want it to be. In the videos I explain how to both fold the cubes as well as put them together to create the final product.

Some ideas for decorating:

  • Write letters on the faces of the cube to create sentences

  • Write numbers on the faces of the cube to play with

  • Draw lines through the center points of the cubes to see how they connect with the other cubes

  • Draw a picture or cut a picture into equal pieces and stick them on the cubes

Rotating cylinder

This object makes for a fun classroom toy both to create with students as well as to play with. This toy is a modification of the magic folding cubes toy which can be easily found on the internet. To make this object, we will need 8 quater cylinders which you can download and print above. This is another great activity to introduce cooperative learning in the classroom.

Some ideas for decorating:

  • Replicate something that is round.

  • Write giant numbers which cross into different parts

  • Draw a portrait

  • Draw a picture or cut a picture into equal pieces and stick them on the faces of the quater cylinders.
